Eleanor Wright - SOS!SEN coordinator and Solicitor

Thursday 13 February 2020

Registration is from 9.30-10.00. Workshop starts at 10am.

Workshop details:

This workshop will cover the law on exclusions from maintained schools, academies and free schools, both fixed term and permanent, and will include the use of internal exclusions and the law on unlawful exclusions, such as the use of part time timetables or "informal exclusions". It will include steps that schools are required to take to try to avoid exclusion, particularly for children with SEN and disabilities, how to challenge both lawful and unlawful exclusions, and disability discrimination challenges. It will be particularly relevant to parents whose children are or may be at risk of exclusions for reasons arising out of special educational needs.
